This week, we had the opportunity to interview one of our community members, Claire also known as @stxrsescapes on both Instagram and the Shopform app. We hope that you will be able to learn a thing or two from Claire’s artsy fashion experiences and incorporate them into your own!

How did Claire find her Artsy Style?
Taking on a more western influence on her looks, Claire looks to fashion icons and celebrities for fun and out-of-the-box ideas to incorporate into her daily looks. She was very geared towards kitsch-style in her teen years. It was only in university she realized she wanted to dress more chic, instead of just being loud and out of place all the time. It took her a while to figure out how to showcase her personality and edginess in her dressing without the clothes overwhelming her! Now, she dresses chic, effortless, eye-catching and edgy, but also fun and youthful without being too in your face.

1. Rihanna
Never shying away from bold colours and patterns, she gracefully incorporates loud and outstanding designs into her outfits and somehow always manages to pull it off into an iconic look. She inspires us to embrace fashion that is out of the norm and try out new styles and haircuts too! Rihanna is truly a trendsetter and not a trend chaser.
2. Hadid Sisters
In contrast to the bold and statement outfits that interest Claire, she also enjoys and resonates with the comfy but sophisticated and chic style offered by the Hadid Sisters. Similar to Claire’s own style, their fashion style is mostly pants-based and she absolutely adores how effortlessly chic they are able to make each outfit with just the right amount of detail and accent using varying accessories, layering and hairstyles.

1. LA Influencers
@ellenvlora, @francislola, @paudictato, @jennim, @sophiachang @amberscholl, these are just some of the accounts she gets her inspiration from. Even though their styles are so different, they represent different elements of Claire’s style that are still continually evolving as she grows older.

Scrolling through Instagram, Claire’s favourite fashion inspiration comes mostly from LA, Australian and UK brands, such as @dypsnea, @mirrorpalais, @palomawool @orseundiris.
3. Review and Shopping Apps
Shopform is a fashion review platform aimed at helping shoppers make better shopping decisions based on authentic reviews. Her favorite brands on Shopform are Knotwear, Urbanized Co., and Ats the Label because their clothes fit her artsy style very well. Their designs are really chic and sophisticated (Knotwear and ATS the label) which she really loves because it means more versatility when styling these pieces. Urbanized Co. has sportswear and sweat shorts which she’s a huge sucker for.

1. Baggy High-Waisted Pants
Our favorite trends in the fashion industry have definitely got to be the baggy high waisted dad and mom pants. Especially for the petite (like Claire), it gives an illusion of height! They are also so comfortable and easy to style up or down. A really great classic piece to have in your wardrobe.
2. Blazers and Jackets
The return of the blazers, jackets is a game-changer.These pieces are so comfortable and effortless, great for people who are lazy to dress up! Pop on a pair of heels/booties and a couple of accessories and you’re good to go!
3. Miniskirts and Biker Shorts
Another one would have to be miniskirts and biker shorts because they always make everything look better! Plus they’re so youthful and fun to style!
Best Parts About The Artsy Look
The artsy style is comfortable and versatile. While it’s bold and edgy, it can be tweaked slightly to suit different occasions and events without coming across as bland and common. To Claire, being common is her biggest insult (she doesn’t really like blending in!) so it’s important to stand out in a good way. The artsy style does that in a sophisticated manner, where high fashion meets street style without the pretentiousness and gaudiness.
Lastly, it’s fun and youthful! It remains relevant to the new trends without being a trend chaser. Claire incorporates trends into her outfits, but tweaking them to make it more relevant and modern.

The most important thing is you feeling good in what you wear and knowing you look good. No one else can make you feel good about yourself, other than yourself!
